At present there are many registry cleaners which do the same . But it is not safe to trust any one of them. Plz always try to make the backup of the registry. Never ignore the backup option when the registry cleaner. this might help u fixing important issue sometime.

I learned my lesson a few computers ago not to mess around in the registry to much. For those that do thse programs can be a great relief.
